(Center for Nanosatellites in Space Sciences) is the PSL University Space Cluster, hosted by the Paris Observatory. This cluster focuses on topics and technologies related to nanosatellites and NewSpace. The goal of CENSUS is to provide support to PSL scientific teams wishing to develop a nanosatellite in any field of space science : systems engineering, modeling, specialized engineering expertise (optics, mechanics, thermal engineering, etc.), project reviews, loan of specialized tools and components, cleanroom access, testing equipment, operations control, and more. Its mission is also to promote nanosatellite expertise in other fields (robotics, hostile environments, etc.) and to integrate innovations (AI, propulsion, etc.) into its projects to drive them forward. Thus, CENSUS helps scientific teams define their nanosatellite projects and develop designs that meet space industry constraints by selecting reliable components from the dynamic NewSpace market. CENSUS also facilitates team interaction with space agencies and in-flight operations procedures.
