The workshop is responsible for the production, assembly and fine-tuning of scientific instruments made at the Observatoire de Paris - PSL. It is equipped with a large fleet of numerically-controlled and conventional machine tools. It also boasts modern, air-conditioned grey room testing facilities and a fully renovated 50 m² integration hall.
The aim is to provide the various research teams at Observatoire de Paris - PSL with the mechanical resources they need to meet the increasingly stringent quality requirements of national and international projects. This means mastering new manufacturing and metrology technologies.
The workshop’s strength lies in the fact that it brings together all the main skills required to master all the operations involved in the production process : micromechanical or general mechanical machining, three-dimensional metrology, assembly and integration.
The workshop is equipped with CAD and CAD/CAM tools (MASTERCAM, etc.).
